The CBI on Monday night arrested a Trinamool Congress chief, an in depth aide of former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, for his alleged involvement within the college jobs rip-off, an official mentioned.
The TMC chief from Behala, Santu Ganguly, was held after marathon questioning by officers of the central probe company at its metropolis workplace right here in reference to irregularities in recruitment in state-run main colleges, he mentioned.
“We now have proof of his involvement within the rip-off. There’s proof of his involvement in financial dealings,” the officer instructed PTI.
The CBI, throughout earlier searches at Mr Ganguly’s Behala residence, had seized a number of bank-related paperwork pertaining to the case, he mentioned.
“Ganguly has been near Partha Chatterjee (former state trade minister). He was summoned right this moment and remained non-cooperative all through the questioning. We wanted to take him in custody as a part of the investigation,” the officer added.
The Enforcement Directorate, too, had earlier quizzed him and performed search operations at his residence in reference to the rip-off.
