The Shenzhou 19 spacecraft has blasted off from the Gobi Desert in north-west China.
The spacecraft is taking three taikonauts – China’s phrase for astronauts – to the Tiangong area station.
Over the following six months the taikonauts will perform spacewalks and conduct experiments, with the goal of gaining expertise and intelligence to ultimately put somebody on the Moon by 2030.
