New Delhi:
A Sikh scholar was thrashed and his turban forcibly eliminated by some college students throughout a conflict with one other group at a university in Delhi, triggering criticism because the video went viral on social media.
The incident occurred at Sri Tegh Bahadur Khalsa School underneath Delhi College on Saturday, days forward of the Delhi College College students’ Union (DUSU) elections scheduled for September 27.
The purported video of the incident exhibits a red-turbaned scholar being dragged, kicked and assaulted till his turban fell to the bottom through the battle.
An FIR has been registered underneath related sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Maurice Nagar police station within the matter, police mentioned.
In line with police, Pavit Singh Gujral, a second-year scholar mentioned that he was attacked through the nomination course of for DUSU elections.
“They forcibly eliminated my turban, beat me and pulled my kesh (hair). I used to be attacked by the group and I’m not feeling secure within the faculty. I really feel that my life is in danger,” Singh mentioned within the FIR.
A senior police officer mentioned that groups have been shaped to nab the accused.
In the meantime, the faculty is but to concern an announcement concerning the matter.
