Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels that Australia’s frontline bowling quartet of Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins are arguably the nation’s better of all time and are key to victory for Australia within the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy sequence towards India at residence. India received the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia the final two instances it was performed there in 2018/19 and 2020/21. Furthermore, Australia haven’t received the sequence since 2014-15, once they received 2-0 on the house soil.
“We noticed within the One Day sport towards Pakistan in Perth that there is loads of bounce and there will be a little bit little bit of motion for for each units of seamers. It is the perfect sequence on the minute due to the 2 high quality groups, during the last six or seven years Australia and India have been persistently the perfect two Check match groups,” Vaughan advised SEN 1170 Mornings.
“In the previous couple of sequence, India have had the higher hand, they’ve performed some good cricket, they have been flamboyant at instances and so they’ve been capable of dig in at instances … so I am intrigued to see how Australia combat again,” he mentioned
Lyon (530 wickets), Starc (358 wickets), Hazlewood (273 wickets) and (269 wickets) all sit inside the highest 10 for Check wickets taken within the Australia’s cricket historical past.
“This Australian group is high quality, significantly that bowling assault. That quartet you would argue is Australia’s biggest bowling quartet of all-time. So I am intrigued to see how each units of batters go towards the bounce in Perth and in addition the standard they will must face,” Vaughan added.
The upcoming five-match Check sequence begins on Friday in Perth as Australia will look to win the sequence for the primary time in 10 years, since 2014-15.
