Mumbai:
Maharashtra authorities on Monday accepted a proposal to call to call Pune airport as Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Pune Worldwide Airport.
The choice was taken at a state cupboard assembly, an official mentioned, including the proposal shall be despatched to the Centre.
The state cupboard accepted the proposal by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, who hails from Pune, for renaming the airport.
Taking to Xr), Mohol thanked the ruling Mahayuti alliance authorities of the BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Social gathering.
“Thanks, Mahayuti authorities! Thanks, Devendraji! Step one in the direction of naming of the worldwide airport in Pune as ‘Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport’ has been taken at this time and the proposal given by me has been accepted at a cupboard assembly. It would now be despatched to the central authorities for additional processing,” Mohol posted on X.
Sant Tukaram was a distinguished saint and religious poet through the Bhakti motion. He was born in Pune district.
